Indian Railways and Bipolar Ionization
In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus and keep rail travelers and employees safe, Indian Railways has rolled out specially designed coaches for post-COVID travel.
Sustaining the ruthless fight against the spread of COVID-19, Indian Railway’s production unit, the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, has developed a Post-COVID Coach to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 during railway travel.
This post-COVID Coach has design improvements such as Plasma Air ionization systems, hands-free amenities, copper-coated handrails and latches, and titanium dioxide coating for a safe and clean passenger journey.
The train has Plasma Air ionization equipment installed in the AC ducting to continually clean the air throughout the interior space of the coach.
”Plasma Air equipment will purify the air and surfaces inside the coach using safe ionization."
This will help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” the railways said. In third-party testing, Plasma Air’s ionization systems have been proven to reduce SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV-2 Omicron and the SARS-CoV-2 surrogate.
