Novaerus at Edgehill Nursing & Rehab

Overview

Edgehill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a 60-bed skilled nursing facility, implemented WellAir's portable air disinfection devices, the Protect 200 and Protect 900, in selected areas. This study compares the total number of respiratory nosocomial infections before and after implementation of the units, which use WellAir's patented NanoStrike™ technology.

A 24-month review was conducted to evaluate the results.

Methodology

A Nurse Risk Manager Consultant with RB Health Partners, Inc. visited the facility for two days to abstract information and review the data. The periods selected for aggregate pre- and post-re-view were an 8-month time period prior to implementation and the same 8-month time period after implementation. Comparison of like periods reduces the risk of skewed data related to seasonal variances. 

Results

In the period after implementation of the Protect 200 and Protect 900 units in selected areas, the total number of nosocomial respiratory infections at Edgehill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center decreased from 30 to 24, a 20% reduction.
